A Day in the Life of... Atlanta Braves Tomahawk Team

In November of 2014, I deliberated on whether I would drive to Turner Field and try out for the Atlanta Braves Tomahawk Team or stay home. For those of you who do not know, the Atlanta Braves is a brand ambassador team, but many people know us as the cheerleaders for the team. I was very nervous the morning of auditions, and last minute I decided I probably should not attend tryouts. I did not feel I would make the team due to my lack of experience with cheer leading or dancing. Growing up, I never really had an interest in cheerleading. I was actually more of a tomboy and enjoyed sports like volleyball and softball. So trying out for the Tomahawk team was not something I thought I would be prepared for. An hour before I would need to leave for Atlanta, I decided I would attend tryouts just so I could be more prepared for the tryouts next year. I put on a little makeup and threw my hair up into a ponytail. I had no expectations of making the team, but little did I know what was in store for me. Making the team began an all new range of life experiences for me. I met so many successful and inspiring people, such as, Ted Turner, Sam Hunt, Chris Stapleton, Charlie XCX, Boy II Men, Andruw Jones, and so many more. I made friends that will last a life time and enjoyed one of the coolest jobs out there! To this day, I am still so amazed that I was given this opportunity. As I write this, I am sad to say that this will be my last year on the team. I have been apart of the Tomahawk team for going on 3 years, and I will miss it dearly. But it is time to move forward and take on new adventures. In light of the new Stadium, Suntrust Park, I created this short video to give others an inside look at what we do at every home game. There are 81 home games in the summer, so you can imagine how close we all become. In the video, many of the people outside of the tomahawk team are included; it really is one big Braves Family. Sadly the times at Turner Field have come to a close, but the new adventures to come in Suntrust Park are in the near future! I hope that you will enjoy the video! Life is meant to be experienced, journey wisely. Kelly Fitzgerald

About Me

Hi! Hello there! My name is Kelly. I am from the great state of Georgia, which I had always thought to be boring growing up. There’s nothing to do in Georgia, who on earth would want to be from there?! I love it now. As I’ve grown, I have come to realize all of the great things....
